Putting Down Roots
At Mulberry Roots we follow the EYFS – Early Years Foundation Stage, statutory framework which sets the standards for the learning and development of children from birth to 5 years. The EYFS gives all early years professionals a set of common principles to deliver quality childcare and early education to all children.
We want your children to learn through high quality play experiences, which will help them understand the world around them and to develop socially and emotionally. Our staff will help each child feel included and safe and help them build confidence to deal with whatever life brings. We believe that every child is different, therefore there will be no pressure, just a fun learning environment with a responsible adult from the Mulberry Team who will understand, support and care for them. Our ultimate aim is to support all children attending the nursery to attain their maximum potential within their individual capabilities.
Our main focuses for development within the prime areas (as set out by the EYFS framework) of learning are:
- Personal social and emotional development
- Communication and language
- Physical development
As the children progress through nursery, we will introduce the specific areas:
- Understanding the world
- Expressive Art and Design
We will focus on the above whilst monitoring the following key characteristics of learning:
- Playing and exploring – engagement
- Active learning – motivation
- Creating and thinking critically – thinking
Our staff training with the EYFS is regularly refreshed to ensure high standards, quality and knowledge throughout our setting
In addition to the EYFS setting standards, we have our own policies and procedures that we follow to enable us to plan and provide evidence that sound practice is taking place in our setting. They set a base line that underpins decisions we make every day and act as reference points for all our practices in the nursery. They also form the core processes upon which parent partnerships are based. When parents consider placing their child in our nursery, the policies and procedures outline for them the underlying ethos behind Mulberry Roots.
With our policies and procedures being at the heart of everything we do they will be constantly monitored and updated as we feel necessary, especially with our setting being new. Our policies and procedures could also be revised to allow for any changes in the Ofsted Regulations, Local Authority guidelines, environmental issues and contractual changes. We also welcome and suggestions from you the parent, after all this is a partnership and we need to work together to ensure the best possible start for our children.
